Bringing Home Baby...

So... I got a call on Monday (Sept 29th) afternoon from Dusty, saying there was good news and bad news. I told him to give me the bad news first.. which is, Brook called around to different vets and none of them will do the puppies first shots till the end of Oct. The good news is... we could come get Cecil whenever we wanted, as long as we take care of the shots. FINE WITH ME!! I wasn't planning on having him until the second week in Oct., so this was really exciting.

I went and picked up Porter from daycare after work on Monday, and suprised him. We went and picked up lil' Cecil. He is so sweet. My Mom wanted to come with us to pick him up, so I stopped and got her (she just lives down the street from where we were going) she was in LOVE with all the little puppies. She has always said that she wants a weiner dog farm. haha.. Like I mentioned in the previous posts, there are 4 at my Mom's. When we dropped my Mom back off at home, we took Cecil in to see the other 4. They didn't know what to think about him... they just sniffed him up and down, and were really gentle. I'll have to take him out there often, so they are used to each other.

My heart breaks every morning when I need to leave to go to work. I HATE hearing him cry. Poor little guy. I know he'll be fine, and that he'll eventually calm down, but I still feel horrible leaving him...

Cecil - The weenie dog

So.. to elaborate on 'the new puppy'.. I went to visit him last night. This is the 3rd time that I have gone to see him. (I can't help it..) And the owner's don't mind, cuz they are our friends. So, it works out nicely. Cecil is so stinkin' cute. I cannot wait to bring him home. Will and I were talking about it last night, and he is pretty excited too. I talked with Brooke & Dusty (the owners) and they said the puppies will probably be able to leave in about a week and a half.. or so... (hopefully a week.. I'm dyin') Anyway, here are some good pictures that I took with my camera last night when I was out there. Enjoy.

This last pic is of Cecil and 2 of the other puppies. There are 6 total. 2 Chocolate, 2 Black, & 2 Black and Tans. They are all so cute.

I have 4 dachshunds at my Mom's house. (they aren't just mine... well, one of them is.. Eddie.) I've wrote about Eddie before. He's my baby. He was born def and partially blind. Poor little guy. So, part of me feels guilty if I were to take him away from the other 3 doggies, and have him sit in the apartment all day BY HIMSELF. But the other part of me feels guilty because I am getting a new little guy. I love Eddie. He is the sweetest dog. He has the personality of a teddy bear. I see him all the time when I go out to my Mom's. And sometimes have sleepovers with him and one of the other dogs at the apartment. (Po loves it when we have the sleepovers..) So, once little Cecil is bigger and potty trained.. We'll have Eddie come up more often, and take Cecil out to see the other dogs at my Mom's too.

Anyway, that's my venting for the day...

Camping and a new puppy!

We went camping with my little brother, Kale and his wife last weekend, we left on Friday the 19th and came home Sunday the 21st. It was a lot of fun. They have a camper trailer and we were all able to stay in it. They brought their little dachshund, Charlie, with us as well.
When we got up there on Friday night, it was kind of late. But we still waited to eat dinner till we got up there and settled. Britt (Kale's wife) and I set up the cooking stuff while Kale and Will got the camper situated. Kale cooked us tacos! They were SOOOO good. I ate almost 3 of them. He cooks everything in a dutch oven while camping, and it was the best tacos I've had (except for mine, of course...) Friday night we watched a few episodes of 'The Office'. Kale and Britt have the seasons on DVD. HILARIOUS. Saturday, Kale got up and made us breakfast burritos in the dutch oven. They were delic! We tried to go fishing Saturday afternoon, and the weather was really nice... until we got to the little lake. As soon as we got closer to the lake, it started pouring. Bad! So, we just turned around and went back to camp... And watched more of 'The Office.' We had sandwiches and chips and stuff for lunch and then for dinner, Kale (our chef) cooked us this chicken & rice dinner in the dutch oven again. I don't know what spices he used in it, but it was really good. I think he put cream of mushroom soup in it too, but I'm not sure what else. All I know, is that we need to go camping with Kale more often.. just for the food!! And of course, Friday night and Saturday night, we roasted marshmallow's. My favorite!
Saturday, Will was showing Po how to carve a stick with his pocketknife. After they were done, Will went to close the knife part, and ended up cutting his thumb really bad. So.. the pocketknife was off limits the rest of the weekend.
We got up on Sunday and tried the fishing thing again. It was freezing cold! We went to Washington Lake and were only there for about an hour (if that) because it was sooo cold. Kale got a fishing pole ready for Po and cast it out in the lake.. a few minutes later... Porter got a fish!!! It was so exciting for him. He was so happy! We went back to camp and packed up, ate some lunch, and left for home. All in all, it was a good weekend. I can't wait till we can do it again. While we were sitting around the campfire, Porter discovered "fire dots". It happens when you put a new log on the fire or put something in the fire, and the flames shoot little sparks into the air. So, Porter was trying to hit them with a stick... It was pretty funny. Then when they'd disappear, he'd say, "Dad! Make more fire dots!" He had us all laughing pretty hard. He's the funniest kid. He has the best personality. Just a goof ball.
Now... as far as the new puppy goes... WE ARE GETTING ONE! A little male dachshund.. and we have named him Cecil. Cecil the weenie dog. I can't wait till we get to bring him home. Here's the story... On Friday when we were at Kale & Britt's house waiting to leave to go camping, Kale informed me that someone we went to high school with lives across the street from him and that they had weenie dog puppies. So... I took Porter with me and we went to see the puppies. We were over there for about an hour or so (we had to wait for Britt to get home from work anyway..) and we (Porter and I) decided that we needed a dog. We've been talking about getting one for a while and we have sleepovers with the weenie dogs that are at my Mom's house, so why not get one of our own?? He's a chocolate color and has blue eyes. As of Monday, (the 22nd) he's 5 weeks old. So, we need to wait a couple weeks to bring him home. I CAN'T WAIT!! IT'S KILLING ME! All day long.. all I think about is little Cecil. He turned 5 weeks old on Monday, and I went to see him. I didn't have my camera with me, but I had the camera on my phone.. So this is the best pic I have of him for now... We have to wait another week or 2 to make sure he's eating on his own, and all that fun stuff. In the meantime, that's all Porter talks about.

Learning Chores...and an update on the weekend..

So... This weekend, Porter learned some new chores. He has been taking the garbage out and cleaning his room, but that's about it. He wanted to earn a new DS (Nintendo) game, so Will came up with the idea that Po learn to clean the bathroom! It was so cute. He was trying to clean the tub while kneeling on the outside of it like Will or I would do, but Po isn't big enough. So, he climbed on in, and started scrubbing... I got some pretty good pics. (blackmail for when he's older.. hahahahaha)

This weekend was pretty uneventful other than cleaning the apartment. I went to the pool on Sunday to relax and get a little sun. Will and Porter wanted to stay home and play the games, so I went by myself. It was actually really relaxing. The weather was perfect! I was only out for about 2 hours, but guess who got fried! ME! Like a lobster.. (sorry no pics..) It didn't really show up till about 2 or 3 hours after I got home.. My face and my chest were bright red. When I got home, we had decided that MY spaghetti sounded good for dinner.. So, I threw some clothes on real quick and Po and I ran to the store to get supplies. We really only needed meat, I had everything else at the house. After dinner, that's when the burn showed up.. OUCH! I couldn't believe I got so burnt. I thought when I first got back from the pool, "Oh, it looks like I got a little sun." Little did I know.... I got a LOT of sun.

As I mentioned in my last post, Porter started 1st grade on August 26th. Tiffany (his mom) took him to school, but she didn't have her camera with her, so when I picked him up after I got off work, I took some pics of him while he was still in his '1st day outfit'. He looked really cute. I can't believe how fast he's growing. Before we know it, he'll be graduating from High School, then college... Geez....

I can't believe how fast this summer went by. I'm not ready for it to get cold yet. I think mother nature is a beast... the cold weather seasons always seem to last a lot longer than the warm ones. And I don't think that's fair. Whomever this 'mother nature' person is, I'd like to have a little talk with her...

Bee's, Baseball, and 1st Grade

Last Thursday we went to a Salt Lake Bee's baseball game with Will's work. It was a lot of fun. We also got to have a 'picnic' before the game. We got there at about 6:30 and sat down to eat in this little picnic area, and it was all you can eat, so it was nice. We all got full! Then it was off to our seats to watch the game. We had some pretty good seats too. The last Bee's game we went to, I got a Bee's hat. This time, we bought Porter one. (Will has enough hats as it is...) haha. Anyway, we had a lot of fun.
Porter played baseball this summer. Last summer it was t-ball, but this summer it was coach-pitch, so he actually played some real baseball. It was so much fun for him. He hit that ball so hard and it went a lot farther than the other kids when they would hit. He is going to follow right in his dads footsteps with sports and athletics. He is very talented. I took a bunch of pictures.

At one of the games, Will's parents came down to watch and spend some time with us. Towards the end of the game, a little bird came and sat right on Papa's (Craig) lap!!

Porter starts 1st grade today! I can't believe how fast he is growing up. When Will and I first starting dating, Porter had just barely turned 4... now he's going into 1st grade! It's just amazing to me. I wasn't able to be there this morning when Tiff took him. Her camera is broke, so no pictures of Porter's first day... :(

We are going to try to go to Lagoon this weekend. Porter has never been, and he really want to go..

Well, I think that's about all for now...

It's that time again.....

This time last year, and the year before, and the year before.... Will's parents left the country to teach abroad. They are very passionate about teaching and education. We (Will, Po, and I) went to visit with them last Wednesday (the 13th) at the hotel they stayed at before they left us for another year. It's so hard seeing them go. We worry about them quite a bit, but are very excited for them at the same time. This time their adventures are taking them to Cairo, Egypt. That would be an awesome place to visit, let alone stay there for a year (or 2 in this case..)
They signed a 2 year contract. So, unless they decide they don't like it, which is what happened with teaching in Indonesia.. (they left for Indonesia last year, around this time, and came home in December) now, we won't see them again until June 2009. We will spend a few months next summer with them, and then they are off again... in August.
It's really hard for Will to see his parents leave again. He misses them a ton when they are not here. The only way to really communicate with them when they are overseas, is via email. (We still haven't heard from them to see if they made their journey there safely, by the way.) Will and I would like to go meet up with them in June '09 before they head home for the summer. They'll know their way around and it will be nice to have someone who knows what to go see. I have never been out of the country, and Will has never been to Egypt, so it would be something new and exciting for both of us! We have a lot of saving up to do, and things to pay off... so, we'll see if it happens. We also really want to get hitched next summer, so we really need to get our butts in gear.

On another note, I have to apologize for not being good about blogging this year. The last entry was from January... Sorry about that... You get lazy, or forget, or just plain don't feel like doing it... Anyway, I promise to be better about blogging for the rest of the year. I get on every once in a while to check out everyone else's blogs, and feel guilty because I haven't been good about blogging myself.

It's been a while....

I cannot believe how bad I've been slackin' on writing blogs... 'Sorry to everyone who visits our blog and is sadly disappointed..' Just a re-cap: Christmas this year was a little different. About 2 weeks after Thanksgiving, Will got a phone call from his Dad (calling from Will's Grandpa's phone in Logan.) Much to every one's surprise, Will's Mom and Dad were home!! They decided that teaching in Jakarta wasn't all it was cracked up to be. They did not like the 'structure' of the school, so they quit, and now they are home. Except the only home they have, is in Bear Lake... and it's more like a cabin. Ha ha ha... So, needless to say, if we want to see them or vice versa, it's about a 3 hour drive.

This is my Mom and my Grandma...

My brother Kale and his wife, Brittany.

We decided that since we spent Thanksgiving and Christmas '06 with my family, and Thanksgiving '07 with my Mom and Grandma, that it would be nice to be with his Mom and Dad for Christmas this year. We had my families little get-together on the 23rd of December and had dinner, exchanged gifts, and played some games. It was nice. Porter was with his Mom this year, so we didn't see him till the 27th.. On Christmas Eve, Will and I went up to Logan to spend some time with the 'whole' family. They have a tradition to play 'The Christmas Game' every year, so we attended. It's a lot of fun. We actually did that last year too, and drove home after so we could spend Christmas Day with my family. So, we went to Will's Uncle's house to have dinner and play the game, then at about 10:00 we drove to the cabin. It was snowing so bad, even on the way to Logan. An hour and a half drive to Logan turned into about a 3 hour drive, and the hour drive to the cabin was about 2. It was rediculous. But, we made it there safely. We spent about 3 days up at the cabin. It was nice. It was fun because it was different from what I am used to.
We also got the chance to meet baby Jack. Will's cousin, Max and his wife Chelsea, had a little baby boy and that was the first time we got to meet him! He is so cute.
These deer were right outside the cabin!
This is the view of Bear Lake from the porch of the Cabin. It's so pretty this time of year!
The gift we gave my Grandma for Christmas this year was awesome! All the cousins pitched in about $20 each, and we got my Grandma (my Mom's Mom) a Family Tree Plaque. It's this big wooden plaque that has the words all carved out. And you can add more names as the family grows. She was so happy. We gave her the gift on Christmas Eve (before Will & I headed to Logan.) All the cousins got together at my Aunt Susan's house to give her the gift. We all wanted to be there when she opened it. It was really cool.

I love the picture where we are all making faces! I think it's hilarious!

This is my youngest brother Ev and his girlfriend, Nina.

For New Years Eve, Will, Porter, and I went to my Aunt Jaime & Uncle Blair's house in Farmington, to play Guitar Hero and Wii. It was soooo much fun. My Mom, Grandma, and some of the cousins were there too. Porter had a blast playing the Wii. He didn't want to leave.

Also, some really good news...!!...!! Will got a new job! He starts on Monday (the 14th) with a company called Aerotek. He's a recruiter/human resource guy. And he's going to make really good money. It's like a blessing that he got such a great position. I knew he could do it, it was just the challenge of finding a job that he would enjoy doing. And with this job, he'll kind of get to use his Degree in Psychology! (It'll kinda come into play...)

Porter had his 6th birthday yesterday (the 10th)! He is getting so big. Will and I started dating when Porter had just barely turned 4. He has changed and grown so much in the past 2 years, it's crazy. I honestly don't know how I could imagine my life without him! Will and Porter are the best thing that ever came along! I am one lucky girl.
Porter decided that he wanted to go to Jungle Jim's for his birthday this year. He had a few friends come and he had a great time. That kid is so spoiled!

Anyway, enough writing for now... I'll make sure to keep up on the blog!
